Gerard Russell MBE
Gerard joined Quiller from the Foreign Office and Harvard. Drawing on 14 years’ experience of diplomacy, including some of the last decade’s toughest political challenges, he brings to our team an understanding of how to work effectively with governments both in the UK and abroad.
He headed political teams in Iraq and Afghanistan, created the British Government’s first unit handling communications with the Arab world and Muslim communities worldwide, and acted as adviser to the Iraqi Prime Minister. He also worked in the United Nations, UK Trade International and the Foreign Office’s European Union Department. He speaks Arabic, Farsi and French.
Gerard took a Double First in Mods and Greats at the University of Oxford, and later received an MA from the University of London. He held a Research Fellowship at Harvard in 2010 and 2011, and continues to write on foreign policy and communications for a range of UK and US journals and newspapers. He was awarded an MBE in 2002.
